Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Energy and Rural Affairs, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, is calling for better enforcement of fly-tipping to end the apparent acceptance of fly-tipping which is ruining Wale, ensuring that local councils have the resources they need to carry out enforcement.
Commenting, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, said:
“Together the Welsh Government and local councils need to look at why fly-tipping is happening, what needs to change to stop people from carrying out this selfish crime that damages our environment and wastes resources.
“We also need to end the apparent acceptance in Wales that some sort of fly-tipping is OK. No form of littering or fly-tipping is OK, and we need to stamp it out at the earliest opportunity.
“If after looking at why fly-tipping happens and there is nothing stopping people from recycling, then I’m afraid we will need to look at increased fines, and actually giving local councils the resources they need to carry out full enforcement on fly-tippers. Fly-tipping needs to end in Wales.”
