Commenting on the Covid testing results released today (August 18), Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies said:
“Another week, and another disappointing set of figures has been released showing that Welsh laboratory capacity remains stagnant at 15,257 a day, and just a third (33,219) of 106,099 tests were carried out last week.”
The figures were made public on the day the announcement of an additional £32 million to create “hot labs” – to improve and increase testing capacity – was made.
Mr Davies added:
“While this new capacity is to be welcomed, we need to be sure that this additional resource will make a real difference, because in many other cases, the Welsh Labour-led Government has reached for the public cheque book and spent money while the taxpayer sees no real improvement in the service provided.”
