Commenting on the UK Government’s £1.57 billion support package for cultural venues, David Melding MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Housing, Heritage, Culture and Media said:
“On top of the financial support from the UK Government to protect jobs, including the arts in Wales, through the Covid-19 Job Retention Scheme this extra help will go a long way to help the sector.
“However, it is essential that this money reaches the organisations that need it quickly and at all levels of art, including community art.
“I will be urging the Welsh Government to spend the whole £59 million on the arts sector as it is quite clear it will be one of the last areas of the economy to recover after Covid-19.”
