Local Councillor for Cadoc Ward Rachel Nugent-Finn recently helped a family who's grandson tripped on a recent repaired footpath done by the Vale Council. The resident decided to contact Cllr Rachel Nugent-Finn for the first time to complain about this issue.
The resident who is a lifelong Labour support contacted both Cllr Rachel Nugent-Finn and a Labour Councillor to see who would sort the issue out.
The local resident said "Labours response - was an email saying that they were not council workers or contractors hired by the council and agreed the pictures sent of the substandard repairs would be actioned and send a highways inspector out. The Labour Leader of the council phoned me a few hours later than Cllr Rachel Nugent - Finn, the Leader pointed out he was the leader of the council and obviously far busier than the Conservative member Rachel Nugent-Finn.
Cllr Rachel Nugent -Finn said - I replied to the resident via an email saying how concerned I was at the shoddy and dangerous work that had been carried out, then several emails throughout the day providing updates on conversations she had had and emailed responses regarding the matter. I phoned the resident within 15 minutes of receiving my voicemail and then kept the resident up to date through the day I think it was three phone calls then informed the resident when the shoddy work was going to be replaced.
The resident further commented saying that "Cllr Rachel Nugent-Finn came to my house to see the work for herself including walking through part of the locality to highlight further issues with the contractor's work including speaking to them directly as they worked to get a full picture of what they were contracted to do. Over the next two days further emails with updates and a date for the work to be completed by. Two days later the work was replaced and completed. A few weeks later Rachel Nugent-Finn made a follow up visit to ensure that the work had been carried out and to check that I was satisfied with the completed works.
Commenting further the Resident said "Labour left me feeling that they expect my vote just because they are Labour and not do the best for the people they represent, just lip service. Well times are changing, gone are the days where Labour will get a vote just for being Labour! You have to work for it, and on this occasion you failed on all counts. It pains me to say that as both a former union leader and Labour supporter when it comes to local politics Rachel Nugent-Finn exceeded all of my expectations and showed genuine commitment and zest for her local community.
I have never voted Conservative in my life but Rachel Nugent-Finn will get my vote. A true Tory terrier.
