Suzy Davies MS – the Shadow Minister for Education – has called for a consistent approach from local authorities to pupils wearing facemasks on school transport.
Some councils have made wearing masks mandatory, some have not, and some have yet to publish their rules.
Welsh Conservative Mrs Davies said:
“Parents and pupils across Wales are in some cases being left in the dark because of inconsistent and confusing messaging across different counties. Many students and their parents are naturally going to be a little apprehensive by the return to school after so long, and into what will be a very different environment.
“School resumes next week, and for as seamless a return as possible, pupils and parents need clarity and consistency now, not an unwelcome surprise the moment the school bus or taxi arrives.
“We also want to avoid more cars at the school gates as a result of families’ confusion leading to a decision to drive pupils to school.”
