Janet Finch-Saunders MS – the Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Energy and Rural Affairs – has welcomed this year’s FSC Friday, which is today (September 25).
FSC Friday – organised by the Forest Stewardship Council – is an annual event in celebration of forests around the globe, and the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. This year's theme is Forests for All Together .
Key themes throughout the year are to encourage consumers, companies, communities, and stakeholders to make commitments to FSC’s policies on responsible forestry – whether through forest management practices, or sourcing and buying FSC certified materials and products.
Mrs Finch-Saunders, who is also the Welsh Conservative spokesperson for forestry policy and legislation, said:
“When it comes to helping to combat climate change, it’s often the little things that can make such a difference, and that’s why I’m supporting FSC Friday this year, and the work of the Forest Stewardship Council each day.”
She continued saying that these small ways can include consumers looking for the FSC logo on products, and manufacturing, construction, and other companies to consider registering with the organisation, adding:
“We’ve only the one planet and its more crucial now than ever that we make the right choices at the right time to help it. Backing FSC Friday and the great work done year-round is an easy way to help, and goes hand-in-hand with Welsh Conservative principles of working to protect and enhance environmental protection right across Wales.”
