Commenting on the statement today (June 8) that Covid-19 testing would have taken place in all care homes by this Friday, Janet Finch-Saunders MS – the Shadow Minister for Social Care – said
“The First Minister must be very confident to make this forecast, and so I hope his optimism is well-founded. Only last week, the Health Minister said it would take another fortnight for testing in all care homes to be complete.
“However, it’s taken almost a month to get near to achieving this, and it will have had an effect on the health of both residents and staff.
“We echo the call from Mary Wimbury, the Chief Executive of Care Forum Wales, that care home residents and staff should be tested ‘… at least weekly’, and look forward to this being announced by the Welsh Government.”
