People on low incomes in Wales are still not getting the support they need to self-isolate.
The Welsh Labour-led Government announced that it would roll out payments of £500 per week for those on low incomes who were asked to self-isolate and unable to work from home on the 22nd September, but they are still yet to implement their policy.
People in England and Scotland have been entitled to payments of £500 since 28th September with grants being paid from 12th October.
Commenting on the lack of action, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Covid-19 Recovery, Darren Millar MS, said:
“Yet again, the Welsh Labour-led Government is playing catch up with other parts of the UK and failing to give people the support that they need.
“It has now been more than five weeks since the First Minister promised these payments to people on low incomes but it appears to have been all talk and no action.
“There can be no excuses for this delay. The Welsh Labour-led Government must get its act together and liaise with local councils to ensure this money reaches the people that need it so that they can follow the rules without worrying about paying the bills.”
