The Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Energy and Rural Affairs, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, said:
"Poor air quality is one of the 21st century’s biggest hazards, with five towns and cities in Wales all reporting illegal and dangerous levels of air pollution over recent years.
"Whilst we welcome movement in this area, this announcement amounts to little more than warm words which fall flat without the necessary legislation in place to tackle the issue.
"Given an estimated 2,000 people die early each year as a result of poor air quality, the Welsh Government must look to expedite their Clean Air Act proposals to safeguard public health and meet the nation's carbon emission targets.
"The Welsh Conservatives have long advocated for the swift implementation of a Clean Air Act, to allow future generations to lead healthier lives. We will continue to hold the Welsh Government to account for dragging its feet in such an important policy area.”
