Commenting on the latest testing data, the Shadow Minister for Health, Andrew RT Davies MS, said:
“Assurances from the Welsh Labour-led Government that it would ramp up testing is clearly nothing short of hot air.
“According to Public Health Wales, only 6,875 tests were carried out yesterday at a lab capacity of 15,157 – which has outrageously not increased in two weeks. This equals only 45.4% of overall testing capacity.
“And when you thought things could not get any worse, turnaround times of tests carried out at community testing units were consistently lower than those carried out at testing centres or hospitals.
“Our fantastic frontline workers are doing a sterling job, in spite of the Welsh Labour-led Government’s mismanagement.
“It is high time for the Welsh Labour-led Government to get its act together and, for the sake of public health, sort out this testing fiasco once and for all.”
