The Shadow Minister for Health has voiced his serious concerns at a significant drop in the number of patients entering the single cancer pathway.
The latest data shows a drop from 13,427 in June 2019 to just 7,055 in May 2020 – representing a 47% drop.
Andrew RT Davies MS said:
“The latest figures detailing what has happened in the last 11 months reveal a seriously concerning situation facing patients in Wales.
“Granted, these are troubling times but the Welsh Labour-led Government cannot afford to take its eyes off the ball and undo all of our efforts against cancer. Patients will undoubtedly be worried enough as it is, but this latest figure will only add to their anxiety and that is totally unacceptable.
“We need a post-Covid cancer recovery plan to reverse this desperate situation and give people confidence.”
