Commenting on the publication of statistical information that shows Labour's COVID's recovery minister misled the nation in today's lunchtime press briefing, Welsh Conservative health spokesperson, Andrew RT Davies MS said:
"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who have so tragically died with coronavirus.
"Today's statistics were concerning, particularly in Cwm Taf Health Board, and I have written to the health minister requesting an urgent investigation into hospital-acquired infections which have spiralled out of control.
"However, I am also very troubled by the seemingly deliberate misuse of statistics at today's press briefing led by the Welsh Labour Government's Covid recovery minister.
"Whilst addressing the nation, he informed the people of Wales that 37 people had sadly died in one day. As the figures demonstrate, that's quite simply not true.
"Behind every statistic is an individual who has a family and loved ones who deserve the utmost respect, and certainly not to be misused by a Labour minister as a statistical pawn in a press conference.
"The minister's misuse of data today falls a long way short of what is expected from those in office and whether they are in the Senedd or behind the lectern they have a duty to be fully transparent and straight with the public.
"The Welsh Labour Government is currently failing in that regard, and they are letting down the people of Wales."
